What you need to know start and run a sustainable photography business – 

Everyone has to start somewhere. The number one thing that made the biggest difference in the launch of my business was just having courage. My friend Hayley sent me an Instagram post about a workshop that a photographer, who I didn’t know at the time, was hosting and she said “you have to do this.” The idea of being fresh into the photography scene and working alongside people with more experience than me was incredibly terrifying, but also exhilarating. To this day I am so incredibly thankful that my friend shared that post with me and helped me realize that I needed to do this. It was someone giving me the nudge, and choosing to step outside of my comfort zone because that is where the growth happens. 

What I would say to any new photographer, or business owner, would be: 

1. Just get in the room. 
2. Don’t be afraid to take a seat at the table. 
3. Listen. 
4. Learn.
5. Be a sponge. 
6. Ask questions
7. Build relationships — You’ll be so surprised by the love you’ll receive from the people around you and you’ll also recognize that they’re in the same space as you. 
8. Stop doing what feels comfortable because the magic is in the unknown.

If it wasn’t for Monique Serra and Mae & Co. Creative (someone I literally idolize) I would not be where I am today. This shoot was the awakening that I needed to realize that I deserve a spot in the room too. 

From this day 2 years ago,  I have given all of my passion to running a photography business, it’s been the best decision I’ve ever made in my entire life. 

As I end my college career and begin planning for what’s next, I want to share my heart for education and helping other aspiring photographers by taking their dream to the next level to make it their reality. 

With everything going on right now with COVID-19 I would love to help assist other photographers who may be asking what they can be doing to elevate their business in the off-season. It all begins with learning how to maximize your time and start planting seeds in different places so they begin growing while advancing their skills and clean-up their workflows to better serve their clients.
