If you are thinking about traveling abroad, then you should definitely consider getting a personal tour guide and here is why:

1. You may have an idea of what the place looks like because you’ve seen all the tourist-y instagrammable places… When I pictured Switzerland in my head before I actually got there, I think I just expected to be snowy, blue, white and that was about it. But our host Ava showed us all the vibrant colors of the flowers and nature that we wouldn’t have ever gone to see on our own. 
2. They have the best houses with views that will BLOW. YOUR. MIND. Or maybe that was just us because outside the door was a perfect view of the Alps & trust me, there is nothing more peaceful that drinking your cup of nespresso as the sun peeks over the tops of the mountains.
3. THE FOOD. Gosh, homemade authentic cooking cannot be beat. End of story. Oh, and it never stops coming in Ava’s household.
4. Personal uber driver to all the best places like Lucerne, secluded towns and to trains that lead you to the top of Mt. Pilatus. 
5. They have endless amounts of Lemocello and Hugo… Both are drinks I highly recommend for a night of laughter and good memories!

I could go on for days, but my friends and I were so fortunate enough to be able to stay with these two and their mom when making your way to Switzerland. They were the most gracious hosts that we could have ever imagined. This was a perfect spot to hit after visiting the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona. 

We ended the trip with these two who took me to the place where they first met, and then we made our way over to Germany and took some photos and the bridge that connected the two of them. And of course we finish it off at those cobblestone streets as you would imagine a European dream.
