Let’s talk about it.

Often times we think it’s just a new logo and some pretty colors and BAM we’re done.

But what you have to realize is that your brand is so much more than that. It’s the intention you put behind all of those elements and details. It’s HOW you portray what you do best through that new logo. It’s choosing colors that make you feel a certain way when you see them. It’s the reason WHY you chose to highlight those certain images because of the feelings that come from the experience that you provide.

Branding is the thing that sets you apart from the masses. It’s the thing that makes you, YOU.

HOW you say something is much more important than just WHAT you are saying because of the way that it will be perceived. The fonts should give you insight to HOW your tone of voice is coming across by the feeling you get with the way you read it.

It’s all of these elements that make up the brand of your business and give every single person who lands on your site a complete rundown of who you are because they can feel your energy just through what you have put on each page.

My hope with this launch of my new brand and website is to give people a deeper look into WHO I am, and WHY I do what I do so they are completely sure of what they are getting into before even inquiring with me.

But I wanted to take it that extra mile and actually SHOW YOU what the experience looks like. If you’ve been wondering, check out the video below! 

I couldn’t have done it without putting my trust in a few people who see the world through a similar lens of mine. I want to give the biggest “THANK YOU” to the magical team over at Alisabeth Designs for taking the time to know my heart and my vision and turning it into a physical form that best displays the energy, the voice, and the storytelling that sets my soul on fire.

They created an avenue that was beyond what I could have dreamed up, but screams “Emily Vandehey Photography” from the mountaintops without me even saying a word.

To the incredible Chris with GoodCo Studios — you are a wizard with your video skills. I knew from the moment we first worked together at Monique’s workshop that you had a gift for storytelling. I knew you were the only one I could trust with this task. Dreaming up this branding video in the rawest and most broken down form was exactly how I needed to tell it. I am forever grateful for your time and vision on how to share this message of redemption.

Sharing one of the most broken parts of my story was scary as heck, but it shows how God is our savior and redeems all things. He has shown me grace and love in a way I never knew was possible. I am humbled that He trusted me with a gift that is so powerful and can truly bless other people’s lives with memories that never have to be forgotten.

To my sweet Micayla and George, thank you for being so excited to work with me for this project that took place in this beautiful airbnb! Truth be told, this was my first time meeting George and second time meeting Micayla. She and I had briefly met at a party back when I lived in Salem and we just became mutual friends on instagram. Why am I sharing this? Well, because this video wasn’t posed or faked. This is truly what it looks like to be photographed by a complete “stranger.” The trick is preparing your couples with what to expect so that the whole environment feels comfortable enough to forget that there is even a camera, or two, capturing every single moment. I can confidently say that these two have such a special spot in my heart and we will be friends until the end of time. That is what I love the absolute most about my job — the bridges to new friendships that are created along the way!

I say it all the time, FIND YOUR PEOPLE. Find people who you jive with, and relate with because you can create magic together. When you take the pressure off of the cameras that are in front of you, and place all the focus onto the person you are ABSOLUTELY INFATUATED with, you get beautiful moments like this. It begins before that camera is even picked up though, and that’s why I place such a high priority on building a relationship with everyone I work with so it feels completely comfortable before the work even begins.
