Do you ever meet someone that’s just sweet as candy? Because that’s literally Jenna. She is the nicest human I’ve ever met in my entire life, and Danny matches her so perfectly with his introverted kind self! And they have the cutest dog Bailey who definitely had some separation anxiety from her dad. But we became pals throughout the entire session. Just took a little bit of time to warm up to a stranger.
We kicked things off sitting on the beach drinking white claws, while Danny ate a burger and some french fries from the market across the street. The best way to a man’s heart is through food, booze, so we made sure that he was so filled on both of those things before we started doing a portion of the photos. Take that as a little hint to anyone planning an engagement session, fill the needs, and you’ll get the best results. I also always recommend getting food from The Pelican when over at Pacific City.
I always start at the bottom of the hill to get the light just peeking over the top of the rock, where we spend time in the tide pools, and even on the little secret beach just around the corner when the tide is low enough.
We then went up the hill you stay to the left and you go beyond the ropes I say don’t go beyond this point. A man told us that we needed to walk basically on the edge on the left for a beautiful spot and he was not wrong. You got epic views of the ocean crashing into the rocks. And if you change your angle you could also get a picture of the entire coastline.
We then walked back down towards the ropes and went right until we see a cement block and then we walked down for the second portion of the shoot.
If you continue walking right along the rope line you can also get views of the backside of keep going to. Check out this session to see what I’m talking about.
I highly encourage you to go early to scout, or just for fun to check out all the beautiful spots, and always end on the top of the rocks to get the actual sunset going into the waterline.
Finally, take a note from this girl on how to dress for your beach engagement session because that burnt orange looks so bomb on the cream sand. When I saw their outfits I knew that their wedding was going to be so aesthetically pleasing and I cannot wait to go to Jennas‘s hometown of Santa Cruz to photograph that in June!
